LIVERPOOL, NEW YORK – December 21, 2010 – Thanks to IQS, Lackawanna County will soon have all of its land records online. 171 pre-1976 handwritten index books will soon be digitized and available to the public, making the county completely paperless.

The Hon. Evie Rafalko McNulty, County Recorder of Deeds, is excited about the transition. She explained that IQS’s system will provide a “smoother interface” with other county agencies and departments including the tax claim bureau, planning department, and assessor’s office. Whereas before one document had to be entered in multiple departments’ systems, IQS’s system allows the information to be entered once and then shared between offices.

In addition to providing indexing services, IQS will maintain a comprehensive “hot site” remote backup of all the county records. If there was a system failure at the recorder’s office, IQS would restore online access to records in a matter of minutes. The hot site backup could also be used to set up a temporary location for the office, and enables the recorder’s office to accept recordings at any location.
